During the Global Money Week celebration, one day is set aside by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as Financial Literacy Day (FLD), to engage in activities that promote the financial inclusion drive of the CBN. On this day, bank Chief Executives are mandated to teach a financial literacy curriculum developed by JAN to primary and secondary school students across the country. For the past 5 years, Junior Achievement Nigeria has worked with the CBN to execute Financial Literacy Day, writing the curriculum used by the Banks and assigning JAN staff members to coordinate in different locations across the country. FLD held on March 15th and JAN staff members and volunteers were in all 29 states coordinating with the bank staff to ensure success. This year, bank executives taught the JAN financial literacy curriculum in over 800 schools reaching over 70,000 students nationwide. We are grateful to the Bankers’ Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria for partnering with JAN to develop financially savvy youth.
