Global Money Week GMW) is a weeklong global money awareness celebration which takes place in March every year, and is observed by over 130 countries across the globe. This year the weeklong observation held from March 12th – 18th and the theme was ‘Money Matters Matter’. The theme generated conversations that would inspire children and young people to learn more about money matters, become empowered economic citizens, understand the importance of saving, and be equipped with the skills to be employed and create their own livelihoods, thus reducing the global poverty rate. This year, as part of JAN activities to mark GMW, on Friday, March 16th, the Executive Director, Simi Nwogugu along with 50 students from JAN school network went on an excursion to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). While there, students learned from Mr. Bola Adeeko, Head Corporate Services Divisions, NSE and Mr. Abimbola Babalola, Head, Market Surveillance and Investigation, NSE and participated in a tour of the trading floor, followed by the ringing of the closing gong by a JAN student, which was featured live on CNBC Africa.
