In line with JA Nigeria’s 20th anniversary theme of partnering for growth, we celebrated the globally recognized International Women’s Day 2019 in partnership with Visa, at their Lagos office in Ikoyi on March 1, 2019. 30 girls from Ireti Grammar School, Government Secondary Girls School, and Falomo Senior High School attended the event.
It was a full day of active learning for the girls who were taught teamwork, personal branding, safe Internet use, and critical thinking by senior management from Visa Nigeria; Nkebet Mesele, Kemi Okusanya, Molade Orioye, and Ayotunde Ushie.
Visa Country Director for Nigeria, Ms. Kemi Okusanya then rounded up the day by highlighting the relevance of technology in today’s world. She encouraged the girls to acquire technological skills through available opportunities like STEM and coding camps. It was so obvious the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they did not want to leave afterward. Thank you VISA for dedicating your resources to empower our girls and partnering with us to promote SDG Goal 5: Gender Equality.
