FACEBOOK PARTNERS WITH JAN AND CO-CREATION HUB FOR “SAFE ONLINE FORUM”

On May 30 2019, stakeholders in the education and digital security sectors gathered at Facebook’s NG Hub, Lagos, for the SafeOnline Forum. Powered by Facebook, JAN and organized by Co-Creation Hub, the event aimed to foster discussion around ensuring online safety for Nigerian youth.

The attendees which included students, NGOs, ICT organizations and teachers, brainstormed on how best they could create awareness on the pros and cons of the Internet for young Nigerians. In addition, they were encouraged to collaborate on efforts geared towards achieving the goals of digital literacy without compromising safety and privacy.

JAN continues to work towards fulfilling its role in the partnership which involves recruiting students for the cyber security program. Having exceeded our target of 3,000 students from minimum of 50 schools across Lagos, Abuja and Ibadan for the first phase of the program, we look forward to engaging an additional 3,500 students from schools in Port Harcourt, Enugu, Plateau and Uyo for the second stage.
