October was full of celebrations as another 50 young Nigerians joined the over 600 youths who have graduated from the ITS TYME (Immersion Training Strategy: Targeting Young Marginalised Entrepreneurs) program.
The ITS TYME initiative builds on the JA Company Program designed to provide basic business education to young people through a variety of hands-on activities supporting a diverse range of learners. Through the Company Program, students develop a better understanding of the relationship between what they learn at school and their successful participation in a worldwide economy. ITS TYME goes further by taking the JA Company Program out of the classroom and into the African marketplace, motor parks, slums, refugee camps, sports arenas and other centers of youth activity with a mission to equip young people with the practical, strategic and tactical tools they need to become financially self-sufficient and active contributors to the social, economic and political life of their communities.
The ITS TYME program in Lagos has been proudly sponsored by Sasol for 3 years and their sponsorship has helped reach over 600 youth during the past 3 years. The highlight of this batch was a mother and daughter who had successfully completed programs together and have attested to have gained the necessary knowledge that will advance their capabilities of running profitable businesses. The graduation had in attendance the Business and Technical Support Manager of Sasol, Dr. Pat Skhonde and other key stakeholders.
