Lagos (Nigeria), December 9, 2019 – Junior Achievement Nigeria (JA-Nigeria) has opened applications for the 2020 edition of its Venture in Management Program (ViMP), a mini-MBA targeted at raising ethical business leaders who will go on to start their businesses or manage established businesses and social enterprises.
Announced in November in partnership with the Lagos Business School, ViMP will select, through a rigorous process, 50 outstanding members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who are either currently serving or have recently concluded service and put them through the residential program at the LBS where they will be exposed to lessons on Strategy, Business Management, Finance, Corporate Governance, Ethics, Entrepreneurship and Leadership as well as MBA modeled business cases.
Speaking ahead of the program, JA-Nigeria Executive Director, Simi Nwogugu stressed that the ViMP focused on raising sound business leaders focused on transforming the country. “The 2020 edition of ViMP continues our focus on introducing select corps members to the responsibilities, opportunities, and demands of a career in management by empowering them with the right skills, knowledge, and networks to effect real change. Since we started the program in 2000, we have contributed to the development of over 900 young people and leaders, some of whom are currently transforming Nigeria”, she said.
The ViMP aims at empowering young people, enabling their emergence into dynamic entrepreneurs and improving their knowledge and skills in effective business management. Participants are expected to acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also analytical, problem-solving skills via interactive training sessions with some of Nigeria’s leading business executives. The program includes stimulating classroom meetings and case studies, culminating in a strategy workshop where participants present solutions to real-world business scenarios.
As with previous editions, the application form is free and interested applicants can apply online by visiting HERE!
JA-Nigeria was envisioned to inspire and educate young people to become conscientious business leaders. JA-Nigeria achieves this by implementing economic education programs that develop attitudes and skills necessary for personal success and social responsibility and delivers practical, experiential hands-on programs under the three pillars of financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship to young people between the ages of 5 and 27. In addition to its own original, home-grown programs designed to meet the unique needs of Nigerian youth, JA-Nigeria also has access to hundreds of JA programs and initiatives tried and tested in several countries around the world facing the same issues of developing youth that can compete globally in the 21st Century and beyond.
