Foluso Gbadamosi, Executive Director, Junior Achievement Nigeria has been nominated for the 2023 Women Changing the World Awards.
The Women Changing the World Awards presented by Oprah Winfrey’s all-time favourite guest, Dr. Tererai Trent, celebrate and recognize women achieving outstanding success in areas such as sustainability, humanitarian work, leadership, advocacy, tech, product development, education, health and innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who are leading the way in making the world a better place for us all and inspire other women to answer the call to take action.
Foluso Gbadamosi loves to enhance people and enable organizations by sharing knowledge and making connections so they can reach their full potential, achieve their goals and impact their society.
She leads a dedicated team working to empower the Nigerian youth by running programs around 4 core pillars (Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship and Work Readiness). This encourages them to own their economic future, maximize their potential and ultimately fulfill their purpose.
This work is so important because JA Nigeria focuses on 8 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, namely: 1, No Poverty; 4, Quality Education; 5, Gender Equality; 10, Reduced Inequalities; 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities; 13, Climate Action; 8, Decent Work & Economic Growth; 17, Partnerships for the Goals.
Foluso firmly believes that young people have the boundless potential to transform their respective communities and bring about sustainable solutions that would impact their immediate community and the world around them. Ultimately, JA Nigeria envisions a world in which young people have the skillset and mindset to build thriving communities.
Dr Tererai Trent’s powerful call to action through these awards aims to awaken hearts, give permission to recapture dreams and inspire the women of the world to come together to forge a brighter path for all.
It can be challenging to create change in the world and Foluso Gbadamosi advises others thinking about following their calling to make a difference.
According to Foluso, ”Oftentimes we are waiting for a BIG moment, situation or circumstance but I truly believe that we should all be the change we want to see in the world! If everyone intentionally did the right thing and impacted their spaces positively, the world would be a much better place.”
Foluso Gbadamosi is proud of her achievements; in the last 12 months, she had successfully led her team at Junior Achievement Nigeria to implement successful programs, some of which include: Hosting the first ever Africa Company of the Year program, at the Eko Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria with team JA Nigeria emerging 2nd overall winner and winning 4 other awards, including; the FedEx award, Johnson & Johnson Innovation award, First bank Finance award, and Public Choice award; Partnering with stakeholders and funders to implement successful programs around the country. Also, at the National Company of the Year 2022 competition last year, the students from the Special Education School, Tudun Maliki, Kano won the award of the CEO of the Year as they had demonstrated strong leadership capabilities and entrepreneurial spirit. Under her leadership, JA Nigeria exceeded her 2022 budget goals last year, and with additional funding. Foluso attributes these successes to the support received from the JA Nigeria board members, partners/funders and a team of passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers across Nigeria who plan and implement JA Nigeria’s programs.
Foluso is committed to continuing to make an impact through her work and her vision for the future is to see a world where everyone is discovering their talents & strengths, contributing positively to impact their environments and doing what they were created to do.
