In celebration of the 2023 Global Money Week, the Central Bank of Nigeria and Nigerian Exchange Group organized a symposium for secondary school students on the 21st of March at the Nigerian Exchange Group corporate head office in Lagos.
The symposium which featured a quiz competition had several schools compete for the grand prize. Adele Mojeed, a JA Nigeria student from Jufradol College, Lagos Island, won a share price of N70,000 after coming in second place. The first and third-place winners got N80,000 and N50,000 share rewards respectively.
Junior Achievement Nigeria as an organization that is focused on promoting financial literacy among young people, collaborated to facilitate the participation of our students. The event also featured talk sessions where students learned money matters, budgeting and spending habits; planning their money and planning their future; technology and the stock market; the role of the Security and Exchange Commission and capital market regulation, and the Fundamentals of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The students, guests, and stockbrokers toured the Nigerian Exchange Limited trading floor as our Executive Director, Foluso Gbadamosi, the leadership of the Nigerian Exchange Group, the Central Bank of Nigeria, Security Exchange Commission representatives, and winners of the competition joined in ringing the bell that signaled the end of trading activities for the day.
We say a big thank you to the Central Bank of Nigeria for partnering with us to give young people a robust financial learning experience and the opportunity to not only own their economic future but succeed in a global economy.
